I never thought being an assistant would be life-changing. I thought being an Executive Assistant is just being pretty, haha! Taking notes for the boss, making coffee and doing errands. But, being an executive assistant is more than just having a pretty face, or more than just making coffee. It is you being an extension of the CEO or the owner of the company. An Executive Assistant is a reflection of you, whatever your personality or work ethics you have, your EA will adapt to it. Having an EA is not just having the assistance you need in your life! It is also having someone that you can connect with. To have a world class assistant, you have to find someone who is not perfect, you should have someone who is coachable, trainable, dedicated and reliable.

1. Bring your EA everywhere/ Involve your EA with everything so he/she will be exposed to your life as the CEO.
2. Information Sharing - if you're not married, your EA is the most important person in your life because he/she gives all your information up to your dog's name or what blood type are you or what is your favorite food or whatsoever.
3. Grant Access to your accounts, so whenever you're not around, your EA can act on your behalf.
4. Over Communicate. Provide communication tools to your EA, this also includes 1:1 weekly session or daily meetings for updates.
5. Decision Making. Always ask your EA his/her insights or take aways on your executive decision. This can give his/her an idea on how to think like a CEO.
For the past 3 years that I have been working with the CEO, I learned that I have to be the best version of me. Not just act like the assistant, I have to feel like I own the company. I need to think like the CEO, I have to know everything from the bottom to top. I have to know who the people that I am working with are. Because at the end of the day, I have to keep and reflect that I am the duplicate version of the CEO. With all those 5 key lessons, it will be useless if you don't have the connection with each other. Yes, you are working for each other, boss and employee, but at the end of the day you both must feel like you're a family to maintain the relationship that you have.
